Hi all!

My name is Sophie and I have been passionate about horses for as long as I can remember. I’m originally from England and it’s down to my love of horses, that I have been able to call Australia my home for the past 8 years.

I’ve owned horses in England and have dabbled in all the usual pony club activities as a child, dressage, showjumping, eventing, gymkhana etc and eventually made my way into racing when moving to Australia. I have had the privilege of attending the Melbourne Cup Carnival, Perth and the Gold Coast with the horses and rode trackwork for a short while too.

I am now the Racing Manager for Michael Freedman at Randwick Racecourse and manage approximately 170 horses in racing for Michael.

I had the most fantastic experience last year on Tour d’Horse and was in awe of the commitment from the team at KIDS to creating a safer place for children in Australia. I met some wonderful, inspiring adults and kids on the ride and can’t wait to catch up with them all again this year.

I have recently been gifted Communist, who is a 5yo gelding who has recently (8th March) retired off the track. Communist was originally bought as a yearling and was trained by Michael Freedman, he won the 2023 Randwick Guineas and accumulated over $1.1 million in prizemoney throughout his career. He is now living a happy retired life with me, and we plan to tackle Tour d’Horse 2025 together for team MFR!

Taking part in the ride will certainly be a challenge for “Commy and I” but I really want to showcase exactly how wonderful horses are, especially those off the track thoroughbreds. I want to show everyone that they really can turn their hooves to ANYTHING after racing and all deserve a home – and why not raise some money for an excellent cause in the process?!
