‘Injuries are the leading cause of death in Australian children aged one to fourteen, accounting for nearly half of all deaths in this age group. More children die from injury than of cancer, asthma and infectious diseases combined.’ (Kidsafe 2000)

The Safety Club is a primary school safety education program that seeks to reduce child injuries and death. We foster a belief in students and teachers that injuries and incidents are predictable and preventable and promote a ‘think safe, play safe’ culture which children can implement throughout their lives.

The Safety Club engages the whole school community in promoting safety awareness. The program is a team approach – teachers, students and parents working together to create a safer school environment. All become active participants in the safety of the school.

The KIDS Foundation contributes to the creation of a safer and effective learning environment. All children have a fundamental right to learn in a safe, supported school environment. The aim of The Safety Club is to assist all school communities in building safe and supportive school cultures. We believe the safety and well-being of our children is critical to the welfare and growth of Australian society, now and in the future.

Safety Club Schools are proactive in their endeavours to reduce the number of preventable injuries to children at school and increase awareness of safety in general.
